Calamint is native to central Europe, Western Asia and North Africa. It grows on cool and well-drained soils, often on roadsides.
Uses
Stimulating
Lesser calamint serves as an intellectual stimulant, useful for students during exam periods or professionals during times of intense stimulation. It has a warm and peppery fragrance, invigorating and warming up for people who got a cold. Drink as an infusion in the morning, for example combined with rosemary (for the stimulating effect) or with thyme (for the warmth).
Digestion
In case of slow digestion, it helps to relax cramps and decreases bloating. Drink as an infusion.
Painful periods
It has an antispasmodic effect on cramps and soothes feelings of cold during the menstruations. Drink a warm infusion, for example combined with ginger for the warming effect.
